Last year, Microsoft announced a strategic partnership with Nokia in Mapping. The two companies have spent a lot of time working together, sharing information and investigating better ways provide relevant mapping information to help customers find and get to where they’re going more quickly. This has now resulted in the launch of Nokia powered traffic results, which we are proud to offer in our service as part of the Bing Maps experience. This change is improving our existing traffic coverage in the US to include traffic information for side streets in addition to freeway traffic information.

The thieves thought they were smart. They managed to break into the semi tractor and start it. Seeing that it had a GPS tracking device, they cut the wire. Thinking they were home free they drove the vehicle about 14 miles and hid it.
Little did they know that Trackwell ADS was still able to locate the vehicle within a small area using an undisclosed technology.
The Trackwell ADS customer then took a team of people to the location and recovered their tractor before the thieves had a change to strip it.
They can run but they can’t hide. “…Foiled again”

Trackwell ADS, the U.S. subsidiary of Iceland-based TrackWell, announced today that Avalon Foodservice has implemented the Trackwell Fleet™ system in their fleet of 29 delivery vehicles. System components include Trackwell Messenger™, Trackwell Route™ and Trackwell Nav™. Based in Canal Fulton, Ohio, Avalon Foodservice is a broadline foodservice distributor and supplies all food and supply product categories to the healthcare, local independent, national and regional multi-unit restaurants, and other commercial and non-commercial customer segments throughout Ohio and bordering states.

“The Trackwell system provides us the tools we need to give our customers the highest level of service while allowing us the operational controls necessary to reduce our expenses,” said Len Meuti, Senior Vice President Operations, Avalon Foodservice. “Our driver’s have quickly adopted the paperless DOT logs and utilize the onboard navigation system to help them with directions to new or unfamiliar stops. Our customer service representatives find the Trackwell Route feature invaluable in being able to see up to the moment status of every route without having to call drivers on their cell phones.”

“We are excited to have Avalon Foodservice join the growing family of companies using our systems to reduce operating costs, improve customer service and automate regulatory compliance”, said Tom Lemke, Executive Vice President, Trackwell ADS. “We have created the right combination of operational tools for the distribution industry at a cost effective price point at a time when fleets struggle to operate more efficiently in the current economy.”

Your drivers have the ability to send an alert for almost anything they need. These alerts can go to any email address, even outside your company. Preformatted forms can be used to assist the driver with inserting the desired information.

One company uses this feature to send information on a bad tire to their tire vendor… giving the driver the ability to get going quickly when a problem arises on the road.

Save time and money without costly cell phone calls. Consider that the driver has to make the call; the person on the other end has to take notes (getting the note right and hearing the driver correctly). Then the office person has to make a call to the vendor to explain the problem and hope that the information has passed through two people correctly.

Then the office person has to call the driver back to confirm that they have help on the way. Save time by allowing the driver to complete a quick form with all the required information and hitting a send button. The office is alerted and the vendor has the message and is already dispatching help before the first call would have been completed.
Give your drivers the convenience of a system rather than a cell phone!

Your company has complete control of who gets requests and what type of requests can be submitted. Drivers know the vendor has been contacted and feel more in control of the problem.
Driver email alerts puts the power of immediately requesting help at their fingertips.

Your drivers can request help for any circumstance, while keeping the whole process under your control with you in the loop.

With this method you have a record of all requests. Do you have this with a cell phone? Do you know what was requested and the time it was requested?

Automate driver’s requests for help
Drivers are involved and like being able to communicate their emergency needs

Keep a record of all alerts
See what was requested and maintain control over the entire process

Drivers send a text version of their request
No miscommunication due to poor phone connections or inaccurate notes

Drivers have contact with outside service vendors while keeping management in control
Drivers have an ability to get help quickly while staying in the loop
Saves time and money while reducing errors in taking notes

Maintain an audit trail for all alerts for later review to reduce confusion of what really happened
Never wonder what was requested by whom or when
Know that the emergency is being handled
